This multimedia installation is a dreamlike sanctuary, inspired by the northern lights and the hidden beings of Icelandic nature—huldufólk, fairy spirits, and other quiet forces, dwelling just beyond the visible.
Shaped by childhood visions of the aurora borealis as fairy princesses dancing across the sky, the work is built from glass, plastic, metal and other materials found in nature, gathered through a ritual-like act of cleansing, removing trash from the land in an attempt to give back to Mother Earth. These remnants have been transformed into a sculptural form, an altar-like installation, paired with an hymn, written and sung by the artist herself. The hymn is written with Björt’s two daughters in mind but serves as an attempt to show gratitude towards all feminine energy.
